1.How does Diamond C’s paint finish compare to a powder coat finish?
Powder coating definitely has its place in the world, but it’s not in utility trailers. Diamond C takes this position for the following reasons:
  • Powder coating does not use primer. So when the finish on a powder coated trailer gets scratched or chipped which is almost inevitable with normal use, it’s down to bare steel and left with no protection from corrosion. And with no protection from corrosion remaining, the scratches and chips inevitably grow as the finish weathers, often times releasing from the trailer in large sections or sheets.
  • Powder coat is difficult to match for touch ups. Away from the trailer factory, powder coat finishes are touched up with spray paint. Rarely does spray paint match the powder color, and it will not adhere to powder coat. Powder and spray paint do not mix.
  • High quality paint finishes (including high quality primer) like what Diamond C uses are time tested by the auto industry. We use only industry leading paint/primer products that have proven superior and long-term corrosion resistance track records.
  • Paint finishes are most easy to color match and touch up when necessary, most often done simply with an aerosol spray can.

2.How do I know what size trailer to buy?
The best place to start is with weight capacity. How much weight do you need to haul?

Every trailer has a GWVR, or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. This maximum weight rating includes the weight of the trailer itself. So, you should choose a trailer with a high enough GVWR to cover the weight you need to haul and the weight of the trailer combined. Diamond C offers trailers with GVWR’s from 1500# to 25,900#.

Then, consider your length and width needs. Common lengths range from 7’ to 40’. Maximum legal width is 102”.

If you have any questions as to which trailer fits your needs best, any Diamond C Dealer Partner can assist you, or a Diamond C factory representative via the contact forms on this webpage.

3.What is Diamond C’s warranty policy?
Diamond C warrants the structure and workmanship of all Diamond C and Fleetneck by Diamond C Trailers to be free from defects for a period of 3 years from the manufacture date.

Diamond C warrants the structure and workmanship of all Diamond C Ranger Series Trailers to be free from defects for a period of 1 year from the manufacture date.

All components not manufactured by Diamond C (i.e. couplers, jacks, tires, axles, etc.) are warranted by their respective manufacturers. Warranty claims on these components can be processed through Diamond C.

The first step with any warranty claim is to document the problem with photos if at all possible. Then you should contact the dealership from which you purchased your trailer for claim processing.

We do our best to expedite claims as quickly and trouble free as possible, typically within 1-2 days of when the claim was received. Any warranty questions can be submitted via e-mail at warranty@diamondc.com, or via phone at 800-827-3512, ext. 124.

4.Can I buy a trailer directly from the Diamond C factory?
For customers outside of our hometown, Diamond C depends on a network of well qualified dealerships across the United States and Canada for product distribution.

To find the Diamond C Dealer nearest you, simply use the “Find A Dealer” button at the top of any Diamond C webpage. If by chance there is not a Diamond C dealer near you, a factory representative will assist you in determining your best options for purchasing a Diamond C Trailer considering delivery and pick up options.

5.What does NATM compliant mean?
“Compliant” means that Diamond C voluntarily undergoes a periodic audit conducted by the NATM to ensure that we are 100% in compliance with those established trailer manufacturing guidelines.

For you, NATM compliance means that you can rest assured that your trailer is safe to operate and road legal in every way. You can learn more about the NATM at www.natm.com.
